Disputed O2 balance on credit report

Hi
I was turned down for a credit card and checked my credit report on Noddle. I found O2 had shown an outstanding balance of £ since Feb 2010. I dispute that I owe it but they refuse to clear it, if I pay it off it will still show as unpaid for that period.
Can anyone suggest the best way I should approach this? Advice much appreciated.

why was it disputed, did it get used if so its a true reflectionDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I was paying monthly for sim only, I gave them notice to cancel the payments within the required notice. I started using Virgin and I only found out about this when I saw my credit report.0
