Hi ya
I bought my baby daughter some ugg oots in pink - a few moths later shes old enough to wear them and after one wear she dropped her water beaker and a little got water on one of her boots - not too much i sponged it up with a towel. after the oot had dried it has discoloured gone a lighter shade than the original colour so i researched and found out that i should have put some suede protection on the boots before wearing - this is the first time i knew about this i wasnt told about care and maintanence nor sold any cream or protection when i bought the boots ive phoned ugg australia and they've said i can go and get my boots exchanged at my local store as they are under warrantly so i phoned my local and they said they can apply cream to bring the boots to a lighter shade to match the fadded shade so where do i stand i'd rather have an exchange as i feel that ive taken reasonable care not taken my daughter outside in them - even on the warranty info it says It applies to defective materials and workmanship and does not cover items which have been washed, altered, excessively worn or of which you have not taken reasonable care.
so can i exchange them? / where do i stand?
thanks

How old are they?
If you bought them less than 6 months ago it is down to the retailer to prove that the item was not inherently faulty. If they cannot do this then they should offer you a remedy (replacement / refund / repair).
I would not suggest lightening the colour would be a suitable repair since it would likely devalue the item (being an unofficial colour for example) so am quite surprised they took this stance.
Do you still have your receipt? go in and speak to the manager. I would expect them to offer a replacement or a refund.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I bought them in july kept them and she has work them about 5 days ago for a few hours and thats it i put them away so not to get them worn further - got the receipt and box going to manchester tomorrow to sort this out - ive printed the ugg australia online warranty info anything else i need to arm me ive also got the mse sad fart print out0

But they are not inherently faulty, the op spilt water on one of them and made it worse by sponging it. The warranty clearly states that it does not cover washed boots so it is self inflicted. Any remedy offered is better than none.0

Valid point, by the time I got to the end of the post I had forgotten what I read at the top (about them being suede).Thinking critically since 1996....0

oooh lets see, hows about to keep their feet warm over winter. And its an Ugg boot btw, your opinions of them are hardly relevant to the thread or OP now are they? Unless of course you were just trying to be nasty, in which case please do familiarise yourself with the 'Be Nice to all Moneysavers' mantra.
OP, did you waterproof the boots before she wore them? You can spray them which stops this type of thing happening.
You can actually clean Uggs but its a risky process, Ugg sell a care kit which includes a shampoo which is rubbed on with water, you then stuff the boot with newspaper to retain its shape and let it dry naturally.
Not sure how you'd fare with pink uggs though.0 -

I did not waterproof the ugg boots - i'll explain why when i bought the boots the sales assistant was lovely and attended to all my needs - bought my the corerect size packaged nicely but she did not explain any care maintanance nor did she offer me any products - if she did i would have bought them and protected the boots.
Thats my point i didnt know that the boots had to be protected before wearing them thats what i'm disappointed at.0 -
They're suede, what were you expecting? You say they are 'faded' - but has the water actually removed some of the pink dye, or is it just water stains? Have you tried using a suede brush on the 'faded' areas?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
