Hi,
I have applied for an Amex Platinum Cash Back and have now received a letter to provide a certified copy of my ID and an original document of a bill.
I have applied to Amex before like 1-2 years ago but it was rejected and I didnt get this follow up later.
Do you think it is a good sign or can I spare myself the hazzle to get a certified copy of my passport?
Thanks
E

It is a reasonable sign, they arent going to go to the hassle of processing the documents if everything else points to it being a straight no but it does beg the question of why they cannot validate your identity from the CRA file. Have you recently moved address or such?0

Hi, thanks for your reply!
Yes, I moved to the UK from Germany in Sep 2009, then to London in Jul 2010, then moved in Feb 2011 and now again just in Sep 2012. Quite a history of moving, but the last move was just a change in the apt, but I guess that doesnt matter eventually. Do you think the changing addresses affecting my chances?
I have checked my credit scores on Experian etc and there all very good, as I pay everything on time or in advance. Only problem is I'm not yet on the electoral role (in progress) and I dont have a very long credit history in the UK (from Dec 2010 onwards).0 -

They will be asking for ID as you are not on electoral roll.0 -
Hmm, on a mildly related note, does anyone have any insight as to whether length at current address influences their decisions?
Reason I ask is that I was declined back in July, I'd only moved in April (electoral roll had appeared on Eq/Ex), all they would reveal to me on the phone was it's their criteria, but not to worry as it was nothing adverse on CRA files.
Just asking out of curiosity really, as I was given a CapOne Aspire World and Halifax Clarity cards shortly after, so I'm assuming all is ok in CRA-land!0 -

I think the only thing people can say is if you know you are going to move, apply for everything just before... or if you have no choice, apply just after and redirect mail / have an agreement with the next tenant/owner..0 -
Most people's credit scores take a dip immediate after moving home. We also provide ID scores to lenders, which can likewise be affected by a recent address change. It simply takes a little while for your data to catch up with you.
