Title transfer without solicitors

My partner and I have spilt up, and have aggreed to transfer the title deeds of our bungalow into my name. I understand that I can do this using some forms from the Land Registry, without the need to involve costly solicitors.
Anyone any ideas how this can be done, and do I need to contact our mortgage lender before or after the transfer, as our mortgage is in joint names (the lending was based solely on my income).

I'd consult your own separate solicitors - you really need this to be done legally. If it's all amicable then you may be able to use the one solicitor between you, I'm not sure.
Your solicitor will arrange for the transfer of equity and all necessary paperwork, and will also deal with your mortgage lender for you.0 -
If things are this amicable, it is extremely simple to transfer ownership of a property - phone up your local land registry office, they are very helpful - its just one form. However, you will need your lenders consent, and so talk to them first. If you do go to a solicitor s/he cannot act for both of you - as there will be a conflict of interest.0

You will need to remortgage so that you have a mortgage in your name, only. The transfer of the title will be done as part of the remortgage process.
Arrange your new mortgage first and the transfer will follow on.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
