I hope this doesn't make me sound like a complete numpty, but I have looked everywhere for an explanation and can't find one, so I'm risking ridicule by asking the oracles on this board.
Having recently bought a dvd recorder I need to buy some more disks. All the ones I need say "4x DVD+RW". I understand the DVD+RW bit, but what does the 4x mean? My son reckons it means they can only be reused 4 times but I'm sure that can't be right.
Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I hope someone can take a moment to put me out of my misery!
Thanks.

I believe its the record speed 4x you can buy re writeable discs but it tells you on the disc recordable or re writeable hope this helps0

4x is the write speed0

Nah......dont worry. The 4x is the speed that they record at.
Iv never used DVD-RW discs so cant comment on how many times you cant record on the discs.

Hi
The 4X means that they can record at up to four times the normal speed - that's for when they are used with a computer.
With a stand-alone dvd recorder it will only record at 1X speed no matter what it says on the discs.
RW discs can be re-used about 1000 times.

1000 times? I never thought they would go on for so long. That's a much longer life than a video. Worth buying decent ones then.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
