Motorcycle insurance rockets after non fault

I recently had a non fault accident on the bike which the third party insurers are settling in full (no one injured) so went to a comparison site to see how it would affect my premium. I did a quote without mentioning the accident and the price was £352 with £500 excess. I then did another quote including the non fault and the cheapest quote was £662 with £600 excess:eek:. The company that had quoted me £352 is now over £800 with £600 excess.
As far as I'm aware I can't even claim this back for the third party that was involved in the accident which just seems so wrong? I can't imagine that his premium will go up by as much as mine.

Well when I had my no faulter my insurance didn't go up (classic SMIDSY). (not much help there - sorry).
However, you should be able to claim from the 3rd party - if you weren't at fault you should suffer NO financial penalty - you obviously have0 -
It is worth getting these quotes sent to the insurer of the other party that is dealing with your claim and asking them for the difference as the negligence of their insured has caused your premiums to rise, despite being an innocent party. So you are entitled to recompense for being placed in this situation.
The trouble is that you can only demonstrate the violation you are going to endure for the next 12 months as nobody could tell you what your premiums will be in 12 months time.
I would run another 2 comparative quotes on another price comparison site to demonstrate the situation as best as possible.0 -
Just over a year ago, an 18 year old female went in the back of me. Hardly any damage was caused, just needed a bit of filler and a re-spray. Upon claiming against her insurers, they informed me that this girl had not yet made contact with them.
I phoned the girl to instruct her that she needed to make her insurers aware as I had already started the procedure to claim against her.
I then had a call from her mother annoyed at me for making her daughter cry at the roadside (I didn't for what it's worth, but i'm sure she was probably upset at having caused an RTC), and that they would be denying all responsibility and saying I reversed into her.
Fine I said, I will be going straight to the police with my rear view cctv camera (which I do have). I went to the police station to report the mother and daughter for consipiracy to pervert, however as I was driving to make my complaint the insurers called to say the other party had admitted full responsibility.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, my renewal came up recently and upon getting various quotes with and without the non fault claim, it added around an extra £100. So I wrote to this girl asking her to compensate me for the amount, giving her 14 days otherwise I would be putting a summons in the post to her. Her insurers called me a week or so later asking for the quote information which i sent. A cheque for the difference then arrived.
So, you can claim back the amount the third party has cost you in future premiums. (Text removed by MSE Forum Team)0 -
Interesting. I think that's only the second example of this on this forum - its a topic that comes up from time to time.Anyway, to cut a long story short, my renewal came up recently and upon getting various quotes with and without the non fault claim, it added around an extra £100.
