My mouse is eating batteries.

Around 6 months ago I went over to a remote mouse and keyboard (both Logitech) - I now find I am having to replace the battery in my mouse every second month - is this normal? I assume, even with my PC switched off, that the mouse remains 'active' - is there any way (other than removing the battery) of switching this off when I close down?
TIA

I'm not sure, but i had a wireless Microsoft one which had a on/off switch underneath, maybe yours has the same? Make sure you're using rechargeable batteries - itll save you a fortune

I find I change mine about once a month in the mouse and every six months in the keyboard - thats using rechargable duracell 2450mAh batteries ( in the mouse ).
I guess it depends what you do aswell, a lot of gaming is going to use your batteries up quicker than just browsing I would have thought.
Try going for a higher strength battery - the highest I have are 2900 but i am sure i have seen over 3000mAH advertised.0 -

I have a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard that I use with my work PC, they are in constant use day in and day out during the week and sometimes at weekends to if I get called out.
I honestly can't remember the last time I changed the batteries in either the keyboard or mouse, it's certainly over 6 months ago.
I've just had a look in the Mouse and they are Maplin rechargeable 2000 m/Ah AA batteries, two of them.
In your post you say battery, singular? Is there only one and what size is it, AA or AAA? That may be why you're having to replace it more often. Or, it might be that there's a problem with it and it's draining when not being used. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Thanks all ~ single AA ~ only been using cheapo batteries so will either get better quality or go onto rechargeable ones. No on/off switch ~ I was hoping mouse may hibernate say after 15 mins of none use.0

I think some are better than others, I have a Logitech Mouse that takes a single AA battery, a Duracell lasts a good 6 months.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

if I use cheapy batteries on my mouse I was getting weeks, rather than months, but I also found it wasn't sleeping due to the surface it was generally left to sleep on. (sofa arm that is raised pattern wise)
Once I figured that out, I can usually get about a month from the cheapy batteries as I put it on a surface it can sleep on, or slide the cover shut (effectively on/off)
really Cheaper mice generally don't do what they're meant to. Including sleep, which might be why yours is using a lot of battery. To save the world (!) try switching to rechargeable,0 -
I have a Logitech M235. I bought it because it states a battery life of a year, and I do get very close to that.
I always use decent batteries in it though. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
