using frozen mashed potato on top of a fish pie
easy

Anyone got any experience of Aunt Bessies frozen mashed potato?
I wouldn't normally dream of using such a thing, but I'm disabled and find peeling spuds VERY difficult, DH is away on business this week, and DS (who would peel some for me) is at an after school club so won't get back until 6:00, will be hungry for his tea .
I've found some home made fish pie filling which we put in the freezer a few months back, and thought DS and I can have it for tea tonight .
Would I be a terrible mother to use frozen mash on top of the pie ? would you put it on top frozen, then cook in the oven, or would you defrost, then put on top and cook in the oven, or defrost & microwave cook the mash, then put on top of previously heated fish pie sauce?
Or just say s*d it and get in fish'n'chips

I've never used frozen mash so can't comment on that, but I NEVER peel potatoes for mash, I leave the skin on and it's really tasty.0

I think i'd get it out of the freezer and let it sit to defrost first.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I would microwave them till they had broken down a bit then whack them on top of the pie filling and bang in the oven (just re read that and it looks quite violent no need to whack or bang lol) xJanuary Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

Yes, I would probably defrost first then put it on the fish.
If people didnt buy this, they wouldnt make it so keep on using it.
I dont have a problem using it at times.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Never tried frozen mash to be honest. I'd imagine defrost it first if you were going with that option.
If you have new spuds they generally don't really need peeling. And they're so tasty just boiled with heaps of butter (ever so healthy - not! )Or just say s*d it and get in fish'n'chips

The difference in boiled spuds and mashed spuds is... the 'mash' bit lol. They're both cooked exactly the same way!!! One's mashed and the other isn't. Can't really see how one 'goes' and not the otherWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Put it on frozen & it will be fine.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

I've actually tried this stuff, despite deepest suspicion.
And it's proper mash.
Obviously, you won't just have one or two pieces per portion, you'll need tons to reach anything near the amount [strike]you[/strike] I would eat of ordinary mash, but other than perhaps a little sprinkle of salt, it's absolutely perfect.
There you go. The ultimate anti-frozen ready meal enemy likes it.
And the sky has just fallen in.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
