Strange Problem......

Hi

I have recently opened up a clarity credit card.

First payment is due 8th oct.

Tried to log into clarity card online and pay balance off - but they only accept payments from halifax cards/accounts.

Tried to telephone Halifax to make payment from my Natwest debit card - been told not able to do this....

Tried to go online with my natwest account and pay the balance but i do not have a card reader so cannot do this.

Telephoned Natwest and they cannot do a telephone transfer as again I do not have a card reader.

Card reader was ordered 2 weeks ago but not arrived yet.

I am disabled and cannot get to a branch in next few days.

With my Egg Card I just went online and made a payment from another account - simples.

Any Ideas..............apart from wait for card reader?

Dave

Could a friend pay from their current account? You could then pay your friend by cheque or directly when your card reader comes..

I could be wrong, but most card readers are the same under all the branding - I know I have borrowed a reader from a different bank to use with my Nationwide internet account.

Could you borrow a card reader from a friend or neighbour - you should then just be able to insert your card and it will act the same as if from your bank?

Ah yes, of course. That generally works, though not always. For example, my Nationwide card reader only takes Nationwide cards. But my Nationwide card works in a Lloyds-TSB reader.

If the card isn't rejected, the codes generated should be valid.

My Barclays card works fine with Nationwide readers.

Worth asking to borrow someone's to see if it works.

Also, this problem with Halifax is such a joke. My OH had the same problem when she first got a Halifax CC.

They claimed on the phone that they weren't able to accept payments over the phone/online, from other banks because they're not a clearing bank, which is a complete lie. They have been a clearing bank since 2010, but they still continue to claim that they aren't.
    From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.

Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!
