Disadvantages of getting a PAYG phone over a SIM free one?

Hi All,

I'm on a three SIM only deal and I want to swap my phone. Three do the phone as PAYG (so locked to three) for about £20 cheaper than I can get it on an unlocked SIM only deal.

Are there any disadvantages on getting the PAYG one (aside from the obvious one that I'd have to get it unlocked if I wanted to switch networks)?

Would it be any more difficult to root if I wanted to do that at some time in the future?

Cheers

some of the networks load their own nonsense apps and software onto the phones so you've got a bit of bloatware, but if you're rooting it anyway you can usually uninstall them easily enough

Cheers. Probably won't root it until after 6 months anyway in case I need to take it back.

I wonder how much carp 3 would put on it.

Actually, thinking about it getting the unlocked phone would probably mean it will be easier to get android updates.

If you buying from places like phone4u or carphonewarehouse, their PAYG phone are usually unlocked.

Cheers. Phones4u seem like they sell the unlocked version for less than three charge for the PAYG one! :)
