I had fun using the cookingbynumbers site yesterday. We had a quick turnaround evening and I was struggling on what to cook. Settled on "Midas On Horseback" with green salad before rushing back out again to go bouldering with the boys. :D:D

 horses and courses - you could be right queenie but as a regular in here (lot more than me:D ) I would have thought its right to help new people to find and use the index that already exists and has taken a lot of time and effort by lots of people. tonight is a good example and im sure you can see that;).

Nelski, I totally agree with you and I endeavour to be helpful, supportive and encouraging to members, both new and regular, not just in OS but MSE generally. :):)
If you re-read my comment, it was in the context of my personal preference when it comes to locating information which *I* might find useful. I neither recommended, nor discouraged *any* member from using other facilities on or across the boards. :):)

I'm sorry that you appear to have taken my comment to heart (?) but, if it's something you feel you'd like to discuss with me further, perhaps you would like to PM me your thoughts? :) I would hate for the thread to go off topic because I know that new members can find that quite discouraging. :)

There are lots of websites listed at the bottom of the Cooking section of the MEGA Index sticky. Quite a few of them will let you generate recipes. Cooking by numbers (from memory) is one of them.

I love this one - if all you've got is an apple:
    Ingredients
    1. Apple

    Method
    1. Take apple and examine for signs of wear and tear.

    2. Put your coat on and go down the local shop or supermarket.

    3. Whilst walking chew on your apple. Stop eating when you get to the pips and stalk. Throw the stalk in the bin and get some food.

  • I have half a bag of spinach, a couple of carrots, and loads of potatoes, oh, and a couple of onions too.....

Is there a link / page where you can input the ingredients to see what meal you could make with them?

I also have a tin of tuna, some steak in the freezer (cut into little bits so would defrost quickly)......

and a huuuuuge cupboard full of spices!
