Redundancy query re job tasks

I would like to understand what percentage of tasks need to be redundant for the whole role to be redundant. For example, if an employer is making you redundant because your role/tasks have diminished & they have created a new role/title that you are not successful in getting. can they then expect you to train the employee who is given the new role on the tasks that you do (at least until you leave the business). Can the business make you stay until you have trained out the aspects of your redundant job that still exist?

You can be required to train other staff members on the tasks you do. It is uncommon to create a new role with your tasks unless they are taking on your tasks and someone else's too - making two people's roles redundant/ or one of the roles less work for one new role. Otherwise it would just be your job under a different name.

Unfortunately you can be required to stay til the bitter end.

Training other would depend on your contract most have enough wiggle words to make this an acceptable contractual obligation.

How good you are at doing this is a different matter, this is one reason why having your job tatsk/processes documented can help, training becomes "read this, ask questions"

I think a good training stratagy is, the new person does the job and assist but don't actualy do any work.

The only get out is resignation or counternotice.

Remember they can change the date if they think they need you a bit longer
