Pay Monthly Boiler Replacement - Who?

Hi I recall seeing a advert on TV for a replacement combi boiler where it was on a pay monthly deal that included breakdown cover in the monthly repayments. I think our now at least 13 year old boiler may be beyond repair an due to circumstances this may be the only way to resolve the problem. Who offers this type of scheme?

I'm sure there are more cost effective solutions. :)

e.g. get the lowest rate loan and buy the new boiler with that.
If you want breakdown cover, shop around for the lowest price deal you can get that suits your needs.

That'll be the Johnny Ball special...do you really want to be paying for a combi boiler 10 years after the install-when you may not even be in the property any more?
Why would you want breakdown cover on a new boiler that will have between 2 and 5 years warranty cover anyway?

The advert you are thinking of is for help link.
    http://www.help-link.co.uk/about/latest-offers.php

They advertise a £17/month deal which covers the installation of a new boiler and 10 year warranty.

It cost us nearly £2,000 to replace and have installed our new boiler. It was the best quote we could get - perhaps this is higher than normal due to our requirements (although they weren't particularly specialist).

So, in our instance, a loan would probably have been more expensive than the helplink deal (we'd have needed an interest rate of something like 0.5% to get close to the Helplink repayment amount).

If you need to pay a small monthly amount for a new boiler, help link may effectively be the cheapest loan you can get - but look at it like that, a 10 year loan to pay for the boiler. If you move, you are selling a house with a new boiler but taking the loan debt with you.

The warranty would come as standard with a new boiler anyway (although ours was only 2 years and not 10). Worth noting that a boiler warranty does not equate to full central heating cover which you may still want. You'd need to get an annual service on the boiler anyway to keep the warranty valid.

British gas offer a £9/month deal which includes an annual service and any boiler breakdowns or repairs are covered for a fixed £99 fee. Local engineers may offer a boiler service for around the £60 mark, depending where you live.
