Beware - Bought my car insurance through 1st Central. They emailed my certificate and saif it (and other docs) could be viewed in their "portal". It was only by chance I went to the portal (printing problems). It was then a message popped up saying I needed to enter my drivers licence number within 21 days or I'd be charged £75 admin!
No mention of this in the application process or any of the other emails/documents.
How many out there have been scammed out of £75?

Nice to see the use of the word "SCAM" being spread like confetti on MSE.
It it wasn't in the terms they couldn't charge it. Did you check the terms before signing? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

How are you being scammed? Supply the info they require.
Cost at most a stamp or free if if you email it.
Are you withholding your licence details because YOUR TRYING TO SCAM THEM?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Scam should have a new dictionary meaning applied to it because it seems to be used incorrectly on MSE so frequently.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Have you seen the post in the mortgage section about Santander variable rate soaring? This is from MSE Helen. How much is the rate soaring by? Just 0.5%. The typical amount historically that variable rates go up or down by when there is a change.
Is the site to blame for the increase in this sort of stupid reporting or is it just reflecting current media and consumer trends where anything that goes up "soars". Anything that goes down "plummets" and anything that is not understood by someone is a scam or a rip off?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
