Using Android on a network question

Morning all,
This is probably a stupid question...
I have a Galaxy S2 which uses my wifi network for internet access at home. Connected to my router I have an external hard disk with all my music on it in publically shared folders. My laptop can access the drive as it's obviously running Windows but is there any way for my Galaxy to be able to navigate to this folder so that I can stream music through the phone? There probably isn't due to Windows and Android being incompatible but is there an app that can get round it?
Hopefully I've explained this clearly!
Thanks

There are apps, ES File Explorer being one of such, that allow Android to connect to a variety of network and online shares via Samba, FTP, etc. and allow you to do what you're trying to do.0

Thanks. Will search for that app and give it a go. Does the app require you to actually download the music file or does it allow streaming like a media player? In deep...0

iirc it does stream the files, the only downside is that you have to click on each file one at a time to listen, you can't just select, say an album floder, and listen to itThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. We have several Android tablets connected to our Windows network at work. In order to browse to the SQL server we have to enter the IP address rather than the name of the server, perhaps you need to do the same?0
