If I was at a wedding and saw it was own brand coke I would probably choose something else like lemonade. Its one of the few things I'm snobby about but there are some awful cheap cokes out there. You might find that if the cheaper coke isn't nice you start to run out of the other soft drink options.
  • For a party I would go for Pepsi, Coke goes flat quick... but personally I drink 17p Tesco cola!
people are funny about colas so best not to skimp
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
    50p: Christmas presents £3.50
    £2: holidays £2.00
  • Also I think Pepsi is on at 90p in Lidls

  • I'm confused. At weddings for 500, I'd not use 180 litres of cola. In my experience I have always used more juices than anything. Children love for instance OJ, topped with a dash of lemonade and a drop of non-alcoholic grenadine to make a mocktail and it goes down well with the parents who prefer their children to have a limited intake of carbonated drinks.

Juices can be jugged, so those cheaper brands can be hidden in back areas as the made from concentrate stuff is all similar. But for cola, if on show, you really do need the brands.

Also kids these days can be veru brand concious. They might not think it's 'cool' to drink asda cola. My ss can be a bit like that with brands, drives me nuts!

You can't beat real coke. There's no substitute. Buying cheap cola is a false economy.

If I have drinks for a party, I'd always fork out for the real stuff.

Even at home, I buy own brand everything except for Coke, because you CAN tell the difference.

  • We're having to cut costs and had previously always drank Coke.

The closest I've found to Coke but a lot cheaper is RC Cola (from Asda). The cherry and diet versions are possibly better than Coke (the diet version certainly is). Husband is a cherry Coke snob and he is more than happy with the RC version. It's dirt cheap too.

I'd agree with this - everynow and then it is down to 79p so I tend to stock up then

edit: having looked on the lidl website it seems it tends to be more expensive these days :(
