Rent cover insurance - please help

We are a private landloard and did not do referencing . We didnt know we needed to now we want to get rental protection but i cant find a company that will cover us without credit referencing please can someone help us as we dont know what to do?

  • To the question of if you can do credit checks on your in situ tenants, yes you can if they give you permission but they are under no obligation to as there is presumably nothing about it in your tenancy agreements.

    As to if it is too late for the insurance you want to buy, you would need to read the exact wording of the policy and if it is a grey one or it is a "at the start" then you'd need conformation from the broker/ insurer that it would be ok and cover would be in force if the credit check was clear but done mid term rather than prior to commencement
