Refused card even tho credit status ok. Result of credit card tart?

I've just been refused a credit card from Lloyds, which I was applying for to transfer my balance from my Virgin card. They sent me a letter suggesting I check my credit report. After going to Equifax (and pocketing the cashback), I find my credit report to be perfectly healthy apart from a missed payment on my old mobile contract back in 2010, which hasn't stopped me getting a credit card since then.

2 things that do spring out at me

1)This is the 2nd card where I've transferred a balance as soon as the 0% is up. Could it be that Lloyds realises they wont make any money off of me and refuses to give me their business?

2) There is a search done by O2 in Nov 2011, which has "Opt out" written against it. I believe this is when I went to get a new mobile and was pressured into getting an iPhone by the sales clerk. Before I could sign on the dotted line I told the guy I'd changed my mind and left. But not before he'd done the credit searches.

Or can anyone else think of any other reasons why I've been refused a card? Everything on my credit report is green :(

    1. No.

    2. "Opt out" means they've searched you only, not any financial associates you have.

Too much debt for their credit scoring model?
Too much available credit in relation to your salary?
You don't bank with them (they used to automatically decline non-current account holders...maybe they still do?).
You simply don't meet their credit score? (the most likely reason!).

Cheers YorkshireBoy :) The idea of being refused still makes me paranoid about my credit history. But as long as everything seems above board, you can't say fairer than that.

    Thanks :D

I have about £60k available credit but still did not stop me getting another card with a 22 months BT offer.
