I also use a dutch oven
That's when you pull the duvet over someones head and flatulate.
Great - but slightly off topic perhaps?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I bought two Ikea pans for a couple of pounds each (thinking they'd last a year or so - but they were so cheap I didn't care).
Five years later, they are both still going stong.
I think one wasa £2.99 and the other was about £1.50.
I also bought an Ikea 1.50 one about 5 years ago and it is great.Slimming World at target0 -
Cast iron here.
If something sticks I blast with hot water and a plastic scourer, but no washing up liquid, and then re-season with a dollop of lard warmed through.
It is heavy, which could make dishing up tricky.
But when the zombies attack it will make a great weapon/doorstop/campfire pan...
If you do fancy cast iron, try TK Maxx, I stumbled across both my pan and iron griddle in random stores.0 -
I've got this one from Tesco. Can't fault it and comes with a lid. Currently selling at £8. http://www.tesco.com/direct/tesco-24cm-non-stick-aluminium-frying-pan-with-glass-lid-black/206-3252.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=206-32520

One thing not to waste your money on is stainless steel. Stainless pans became a major fashion craze back in the 1980s and I invested in a couple of them. Oh dear - they were the stickiest of all!
Mrs Badger and I use both non-stick and cast iron and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Teflon doesn't last (we never use steel implements and only get a couple of years, even out of Tefal ones). Teflon also can't be used hot enough for some cooking (steak, for example) and has that worrying chemical question hanging over it.
Cast iron, OTOH, can pick-up flavours, is very heavy to carry in the larger sizes and needs careful handling to establish and preserve that glass-like finish.
It seems there is no perfect answer here.0 -

ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
