Don't know if there's already a thread for this ( I couldn't find one) but if you like to eat out, meet friends for coffee or enjoy taking the kids out for the day spree books are brilliant money savers.

Unlike a lot of the other dining discount cards I've signed up for which usually you have to either pre-book or don't work on weekends, spree vouchers can usually be used anytime (occasionally with restricted use on bank holidays)

I can only speak for the aberdeen spree book but last year it contained BOGOF vouchers for main courses at many local restaurants on or off the main city centre street (books and beans, the art gallery cafe, carmelite, kilau, filling station, light of bengal, la bamba, !!!! and bull, christos greek taverna, cafe coast, bollywood tandoori, frankie and bennys to name just a few) cafes and coffee shops as well as chains such as Greggs, McDonald's, Burger King, baskin Robbins, dominos, subway and Pizza Hut.

There's also heaps of stuff like free child admission to local attractions, free golf club entry and discounts on everything from extreme sports days to hair cuts to dry cleaning.

A fellow money saver and close friend introduced me to it as her nursery group 'loan' them from the company to sell and in return are given £5 per book sold for their funds. Any unsold can be returned for free. It's a great way to fundraise for a group too.

They cost £23 and are valid from oct to oct the following year. If you buy them half way through the year they are cheaper (half price) but as they only have a limited print you city's book may have sold out if you risk waiting.

Each book is specific to a city (at the moment mostly Scotland) and available in: Glasgow, Edinburgh and Lothian, fife, aberdeen, Norwich and tayside. I'm sure there were more English cities last year but they may add more.

So far this year I've saved at least £50 on eating out/socialising (I bought mine in May) My friend has 2 kids under 5 and wouldn't be without hers as it's saved her over £100 this year at a really rough guess

I should probably mention that they may not be much use if you eat out alone as many of the offers are BOGOF on courses and drinks but if you're single just invite a friend for a half-price coffee/cake/meal and split the bill!
