Open University - Deadline typo leads to fail

Just a thought...I know it would probably cost you and take a bit of time but failing everything else, if you have done all the work required for the course, could you not just ask to resubmit it for the following year? At least then you wouldn't have wasted everything that has gone before. (2 years before!!)
I do agree with people who say you had the opportunity to find out the date had changed though. Taking responsibility for your actions is a huge part of Uni...particularly the Open Uni, and I think a polite approach accepting at least some blame, might have gotten you somewhere.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!
Closet debt free wannabe -[STRIKE] Last personal loan payment - July 2010[/STRIKE]:T, credit card balance about £3000 (and dropping FAST), [STRIKE]Last car payment September 2010 (August 2010 aparently!!)[/STRIKE]

Good idea - assumingthe syllabus/ coursework is still the same?Gone ... or have I?0 -
I agree with the posters above: there is a reason why the OU has invested heavily in conferencing infrastructure, and why it has an appeals process (with deadlines).
You could TRY sending a polite letter to the Vice-Chancellor (the 'big boss' of the whole university) but I doubt if you will get anywhere.
Failing that, you can either walk away from the whole business, or re-take the course. Since you have completed it once you should be able to pass the assessment with good marks without too much difficulty.
However, I do wonder why you were not using the First Class conference? This is an important part of student support and the learning process, and you might learn more if you made use of it.
And no, you have no legal redress, whether through the small claims court or any other means.0
