Hi FS, great to see you again, how you doing? Did yu have a nice Christmas/New year?0
-
New years resolution didn't last very long! Thankfully not in any more debt than I was when I started but not progressing very far and a possible change of job coming with less pay means I need to get more organised. Update to follow...LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0

Can't believe it's nearly April already, where is the year going?
Had a job offer last week, after serious consideration I turned it down. It would have meant a significant pay cut. I'm not happy in my current job, it was always meant to be a temporary thing while I decided what I want to do long-term. When I turned down the job I tried to negotiate a higher salary but they said it wasn't negotiable but suggested another position. It's still not as much pay as I'm on now but I wouldn't have to work Saturdays (currently work alternate Saturdays with no time off in leiu). I've looked into finances and I think we can manage. I'm quite excited at the prospect of change.LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0 -

Thanks Flanno, I'm the same, always reading posts on MSE but hardly ever posting anything myself.
My mum gave me some jewellery today that was passed down from grandparents on both sides of the family, I wouldn't wear any of it, she thinks some of it might be worth something and the rest I could eBay. I'll take it for a free valuation on my lunch break next week.LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0 -
hi FS, how are you doing?
good luck with selling the jewellery next week, fingers crossed it'll be worth something! What will you do with the money-put it towards your debt?0 -
Hi WantsToBeSE, I'm good thanks. How are you?
I've been a bit lazy about posting on here recently but now that I'm thinking about changing jobs and taking a pay cut I need to get back into it. The money I get from the jewellery will go towards debt, don't think it will be that much but just the smallest contribution towards the debt helps motivate me.LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0 -
It's Friday night but that doesn't mean it's the end of the working week for me. Despite this I'm starting to think that I shouldn't take a pay cut for a number of reasons I won't go into.
On a positive note took my jewellery to be valued and they told me I could get about £200 for it. Didn't cash it in at the first place I took it to, I'll take it somewhere else next week just to compare. That would be fantastic, I wasn't expecting it to be worth that much.LBM September 2012Debt at LBM £10,573.00Current debt £3,250 (29/12/20)Current savings £4,950 (29/12/20)0 -

hi again FS,
I am good thanksMoney is tight (as always), but i am applying for about 10-15 jobs a week, so hopefully something will come soon!
Great to see you posting again, and wow at the £200 for the jewellery, that's wonderful!
In regards to the job situation, are you able to set yourself a goal, for example, say you can change jobs once you have paid £X of debt off (if said job involves a pay cut i mean)? Just a thought0
