Dover-Calais/Dunkirk sea crossing - Bargains gone!

Options
I have always crossed the Channel using DFDS Seaways (previously Norfolkline) as they were competitively priced and offered good deals especially at night. Has anyone else seen their new website? All sailings appear to be the same price for the next 4 months (at least), no deals, no cashback. What's going on? Anyone know?

    P&O not looking good either
Ah well, I save so much on my booze each day I'll have to stay an extra 24 hours to cover the increased fare.

I just put a search in on this link for next Friday, travelling out at 0700 and returning at 2045, and it would cost £35 which isn't too bad.

They are using three of the old SeaFrance ships - Rodin, Berlioz and Moliere.
  • Thanks for this. Yes, the prices for day trips are still competitive but for one way they are far more that they used to be and time of travel makes no difference. .....prove me wrong please!

you are not seeing the DFDS website, it clearly states:

'Due to technical problems with the DFDS Seaways website, you have been redirected to a DFDS Seaways booking partner....' for the date you gave us.

First time this has ever happened to me in over 30 years of ferry travel. Arrived late in Calais last night (thanks Paris roadworks) after a 500 mile run only to be told that I would be charged an extra £10 to get the next ferry.

Not 100% sure of their rules & regs but goodwill usually prevails. The ferry had 14 cars on it in total so not exactly busy.

No apologies, sympathy blah blah - just a Ryanair style - "we gothcha!"

What a let down after a knackering journey. Lost my business in future........
  • Regular traveller on P & O (at least last year when I was getting around the £50 for a long weekend return).
Got a mail earlier in the year asking how much extra I'd be prepared to pay for the option of arriving up to 4 hours either side of the reserved booking with no surcharge.
As the big advantage of P&O is that you could turn up 2 hours either side and be put on the next ferry was not to enthuastic about paying extra!
NOW they have obviously realised that and you are charged £10 each way for the option!
Havent had the oportunity to see what happens if you arrive late as their prices seem to have gone up conciderably since Seafrance went out of business - hopefully now that seafrance is back as my ferry link there might be a little more competition

I guess I was lucky than back in July as I didn't get charged extra.
