I have been claiming ESA for 2 years. Will i be entitled to working tax credits?

maybe, it depends on your gross as well, give them a call on the day you started work or there after (wtc)

You can claim on hours of 16+ but obviously the more the salary the less the benefit.

Don't forget you are also entitled to claim the 'job grant' and 'return to work credit'.

Hi, here are the qualifying rules regarding the disability element in WTC and the link gives more info. Based on the OP you meet requirements one and three, so have a look at the link and see if you meet number 2.


The Working Tax Credit (Entitlement and Maximum Rate)Regulations, Reg. 4 and Reg. 9

The disability element is payable if the claimant, or at least one of the claimants in a joint claim:

• is engaged in qualifying remunerative work for at least 16 hours a week and
• has a physical or mental disability which puts him at a disadvantage in getting a job and
• satisfies the “qualifying benefit test”
