Garden Bench that lets you slouch properly?
All garden benches on the market involve sitting relatively erect, with small seats and low backs. The only option for reclining is to buy a recliner, which isn't a bench and is just for sunbathing.
I am looking to purchase a garden bench which feels mid-way between reclining all the way back and sitting relatively erect. A bench that lets you comfortably slouch, and follows the contours of the body.
The only thing I have found thus far is this design from Scandinavia which starts at 2000 pounds!

Does anybody have any suggestions - should I find someone to make me a custom bench? It really isn't the most avant-garde idea and I'm surprised that it isn't already on the market.

Is there such a things as slouching properly?
I know what you mean though - we bought a twin seat this year and its just not something we can sit on for long
The products from this enterprise as very well designed and prices to suit a range of pockets (although bear in mind they are a premium not mass-produced product) - I have sat in various one in the range and found some suit my body shape/posture very well, others less so
and they are eco-friendly too

I know it's not a bench but have you looked at camping chairs? There's a wide choice on the market ranging from the cheap canvas upright type to more expensive ones that you can adjust to your own degree of comfort. And then you can fold them up and keep them in the shed.Val.0

The only solution I can find is to contact bespoke furniture makers and commission them to replicate this bench.0

What about getting some cast iron bench ends (see http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/list/3267/sheds-greenhouses-and-buildings.html?keyword=cast%20iron%20garden%20bench%20ends for examples of what I mean) and then just attaching some (preservative-treated) timber lengths to them with coach screws?
I'm astonished at the prices mentioned in the link, but a friend in Lincolnshire picks these up at car-boot sales for peanuts. She gave me a pair that she'd cleaned up with a wire brush and sprayed with Hammerite paint. They're still in the garage waiting for moi to get a move on and get the wood and stuff. That can go on my list of things to do over winter.
Mine have got metal struts - apparently it's really important that they're part of the deal if you buy the bench ends - but I've not figured out what I should attach them to.

what about an adirondack chair ? you can get benches too but I dont think they're as nice ie - comfortable you can get one for around £100 and the curved footstool for around anothe £30 they are VERY ergnomic and give a similar seating position to the £1000 bench in your link -

John Lewis had a lovely bench I tried a few weeks ago.
Can't find it on their web site now.
Will probably be back next spring?0
