Can I disable windows live mail and skydrive?

I have a nine month old Laptop running windows 7 that uses Windows live mail as the default email and I have my hotmail accounts - 5 hotmail email addresses for different family members.
I do not like the way the windows live adds attachments and photos to my emails with the the skydrive - it annoys me no end!
Is it possible to just have a regular hotmail account that will attach files and photos without all the skydrive etc?
If so How do I go about changing things please?
