reclaiming PPIs

Hi
Hope someone can help with this query. Can you claim for PPIs that you used? I took out a loan and was sold insurance to cover it - didn't know you could get this elsewhere. I was off work due to sickness and was then made redundant so used the insurance cover for the year it was on offer. however, I had a really horrendous time. Tesco - who gave me the loan and insurance, were dreadful - not paying the loan payments for months so it was still being taken out of my account each month, then putting incorrect amount into my account. If they could do something wrong they did, it was a nightmare. If I had known I would have looked around for cover and not accepted that it was standard to take insurance with the loan. And would certainly have taken out insurance for longer than the 12 payments given by Tesco. But, as I used it, can I make a claim?

It's possible, but you need to identify a misselling reason, not an incompetence reason.
Also be aware that any redress will be reduced by the amount already paid out.

You can certainly complain if you have valid and verifiable mis-selling reasons. However, your complaint must focus solely on what took place when the policy was sold to you. There is no point detailing their errors during the time you were actually claiming (as you have done in your post) because it is irrelevant to mis-selling.

If you do have strong mis-selling reasons and you eventually win redress, do be aware that the amount you have already received when you claimed would (of course) be deducted from whatever you might be awarded.
