Just tell them - you are flat mates - have no financial ties, don't have a traditional relationship etc.
People who are not married and living in the same home seem to be able to claim they are a couple - so you have many things in your favour.
Corrected !
I agree that not claiming HB might be the reason for the investigation.
I can only add that you mustn't worry too much about this.
Unfortunately there are some people who claim as single people whereas they are really a couple but it is more common for one of that couple to be 'sleeping over' on a regular basis.
I think the fact that you are together every day might (as strange as it sounds) hold you in good stead.
You are not pretending that you aren't living together- you admit that you are but just as friends. Being so open about it is, I think, a good thing.
I hope you understand what I mean!0 -
Could there possibly be a question about the amount of savings you have as I assume that this is what you're using to pay the rent.0

OP 's post does say that the letter says it's regarding the person she is living with.
Do these letters really give the reason for the visit? I thought they were always more general than that?0 -
Have a read of the 'living together' decision maker guidance as this is what they will consider when making a decision www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dmgch11.pdf0
