Capital one / credit limit rises

in Credit cards
I have just got my Capital One card with a £200 limit. Pleased that I even got it!
I would like to know what peoples experiences are for credit limit rises.
Is it best to use it for a small amount say a tank of fuel every month and pay off in full; or pay the majority of the balance and then clear it every now and then?
Or pay just over the minimum?
Some experience with anyone that has a Capital One card please?

have a card myself but too soon to tell how to get limit increases, but many searches on this site show a very very mixed bag of results, with some people havign a card for years and no increase, in fact last time I had a card it was 3 years before I got an increase.

Ive had the cap1 card for about a year and a half now and still no increase, even though ive paid the balance off each month.
I might have to ditch them once i get off the sub-prime road.0 -
We've had ours for nearly 2 years with a £4k limit, I wanted to put a car deposit on it so my husband phoned (I know you aren't meant to) and asked for a raise to £7K - which was more than we needed - they said they would look and let us know, a few days later we noticed it had changed online to £5k, which was good enough.
I must add we pay everything off every month, don't know whether that makes any difference.0 -
I started off at £200 as well. Then £800, then, I think, 1600.
It is now £3600, though, because I now have others at almost half the interest rate, I use them instead

I think it's better I pay more than the minimum but keep some kind of balance. Paying it off every month doesn't seem to get a rise - I wonder why this is?3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I got a classic card 16 months ago with a 500 limit, got increased to 800 after a year. I use it regularly, pay more than the minimum but do not always pay it off in full but never use my full limit.0

I have 2 Cap 1 cards, the 1st i have had for 7 years with a £200 limit, no increases at all!! Requested it many times, only to be told the same thing, we review accounts regulary and if you are eligible, we will let you know. They also said, Keep your account in good order and that will help! Well i have never missed a payment, pay off balance most of the time or more than min payment and still no increase!
The 2nd is the progress card, which i've had approx 18 months, limit £1000, which is what it started at, no increase!0
