Gardening plonker

Took over an overgrown allotment plot a few weeks ago so after treating the weeds with glyphosate and cutting some brambles back I then waited for two weeks for the weedkiller to take effect before finally getting a break in the weather and tackling the weeds head on, one hour on Friday before the rain made the ground too wet to walk on, six hours on Saturday saw me make significant headway but feeling some aches and pains after the exercise, silly me I couldn't help returning on Sunday for a further three hour session of digging and weed removal. The plot now looks much better but I ache to the bones, and I was hoping to get some more work done over the weekend too.

You are only a plonker if you end up having to do it all again - so get some fabric or old carpet down to stop the weeds all popping up again!

That is a lot of work. Someone new to digging cannot do much until they get used to it. I sweat like a pig when I dig. It is good exercise, so probably no harm done. And you will develop muscles that will make digging and carrying easier in future. I found my hands aching when decorating, and worried that I had arthritis. A friend suggested I was not used to hard work. I was weedy before I bought my run down house. Now neither me nor my garden are weedy.:rotfl:
