the thought of paying £10 a month for the same functionality as an old VHS player is making me squirm!
Anyone know of a TIVO stockist outside the US? I'd rather not ebay such an expensive thing.

Your old VHS recorder cannot record one or two Sky channels whilst you watch another, nor can it pause live TV.
There is no indexing system either, I do agree however that having to pay £10 just to use it is not on.
What about a twin tuner PVR like the Humax 9200?That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
the Humax does look good, but I've kind of fallen for Tivo having seen it in action. Obviously it's not so easy to get hold of now it isn't manufactured, though...

I was looking at the possibility of getting a MythTV yesterday, and had a look at the Tivos on Ebay. They claim that it comes with a 'lifetime subscription' for about £100, but Im not sure how true that is."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0

Albert,
so most PVRs have some kind of dowloadable programme guide? Forgive my standard non-techiness! Sky seems to be giving me only 2 days in advance at the moment... there's a way of getting a week? And do they set the skybox themselves?Debt free 4th April 2007.

Ebay is the practically the only place to get a UK Tivo these days, if you get it right you might be able to buy one with a lifetime scubscription and get the subscription transferred to you.
Other places to try are http://www.tivoland.com/ and http://www.tivoheaven.co.uk/ although they will both be more expensive.
Sometimes that are some for sale on http://www.avforums.com/ too.
Despite it's limitations Tivo still is one of the best hard drive video recorders out there - they still sell on ebay for more than they cost new and they haven't been sold in the UK for more than five years!
It's one of the best buys I ever made and if ours broke I'd be straight back on ebay for another.
