Purchased large item that states collection only ! The cant collect

Please i placed an ad for a bed clearly stating collection only and even gave area and postcode on listing. I had about 20 watchers on this buy it now item. Man goes in today and purchases it buy it now for the asking price. I email to ask when can you collect and he says oh I made a mistake I live in London !!!! which is about 130 miles from me. So no chance of collection.
He says in his email oh I dont know what to do I am new to this and therefore cannot commit to the purchase.
To enable me to relist etc and get my final fees back immediately I cancelled the transaction to which he agreed and had my fees returned, however thinking now I have to pay another insertion fee (through no fault of mine ) and also lost all my watchers.
Should I have waited the 7 days and reported as item not paid for (to which I spose he could have paid by paypal to try and complicate it further) I could then have left feedback and got my insertion fees covered.
Would you advised me to have done anything different ? Or is it a case of just have to put up with it.
Has anyone else had this happen to them !! Real pain for me !
Thanks:mad:

This has happened to me today, alonh with a load of other !!!! unfortunately (l didn't mean to bid twice, three NPBs and two SNAD, one my fault, one not but they will get their money back anyway, nothing l can do about it). I have requesfed a cancellation but they have ignored it. If l opened an NPB case they could have paid them INRd me so l didn't see the point. Add them to your blocked bidder list and move on.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

You can do a mutual cancellation, where you get your fees back pretty much as soon as the buyer agrees.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

The op said the item was a BUT IT NOW - so no other bidders, therefore no second chance options......pinkladyof66 wrote:I had about 20 watchers on this buy it now item. Man goes in today and purchases it buy it now for the asking price.0 -
