I was told that a city is a place which has a cathedral. I don't know if that's true, but MK does have a cathedral, so if that's the correct definition then, yes, MK is a city!0

Milton Keynes applied for formal city status in 2000 and 2002 in special competitions but didn't win in either year so no, officially Milton Keynes isn't a city. See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_status_in_the_United_Kingdom
