Virgin Card selection warning

I saw somewhere on a chat board (here ?) that Virgin had run out of their black credit cards. Well, my wife successfully avoided that problem by insisting on choosing a pink one, expecting its arrival in around 10 days. This despite my protestation that it was only going to sit in a safe place for the 0% BT period, so the colour didn't matter a damn - she'd never see it !

A letter arrived this morning, around 2 weeks after returning signed forms, telling her that Virgin had run out of pink cards, but that some time in the next 10 days (again??) they would send her a red one temporarily. (Beats me why they didn't just send a red card with a brief letter explaining the position....). So - a month's stoozing - gone !

I guess people will get the point.... :(

kalos - I can't say I'm surprised. Virgin are notoriously slow compared to other credit card providers. I requested a red card, but I still haven't received it or my SBT even though I returned my signed form weeks ago.

When I called they confirmed that they'd received the form and assured me my card would be with me in the next few days. I think Virgin ought to take a leaf out of Egg's book. When I applied for an Egg card they did my SBT and sent my card and PIN all within 10 days.

Not necessarily. You should still be able to phone up and organise a balance transfer even if you don't have the card yet.

That is what I did. When I phoned to check if my application had been accepted, I asked them to balance transfer my credit limit to my current account. They are going to transfer 95% of it, but they STILL haven't done it yet.

I applied for a Virgin-card-with-the-wine some months ago last year and it took them weeks and weeks and weeks before they told me I'd been turned down... I've just applied again on-line & am waiting to see how long before I hear from them THIS time! Unfortunately, IF they accept me this time [big "if", you notice], I imagine there'll be no wine this time.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...
