Perhaps he had 'personal assets' to protect, phil - own house etc.
Seems 'strange' that a 'property investment company' was not set up as a 'limited company' in order to minimise 'personal' liability, but perhaps he has been badly advised?
I just hope he hasn't fallen for one of those 'write off your debts' adverts from an IVA factory.
Possible 'error' in the actual article - they mention that he will be making payments for 'up to three years' - sounds more like an IPA than an IVA. :rotfl:
Anyway - Bankruptcy or IVA - it's still insolvency and, either way, it is 'no easy way out'.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

What an interesting thread…
Now not wishing to be made Bankrupt for libel (can you imagine the legal fees!).
Is it really true that Alan Sugar, Richard Branson, Peter Jones and Simon Cowell were all Bankrupt in the past?
Was it individual Bankruptcies or were companies just put into liquidation.
Also purely out of interest did they petition for their own Bankruptcies or did a creditor petition them?0 -

Im afraid that the trustee can only collect assets up to the value of the debts plus costs and from what i hear she is close to paying all her debts off through the income already received.Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
