I did bring sippy cups for mine and tried to clean after them as much as was possible. I don't dispute the potential cleaning bill. What I dispute is the claimed damages. There were none - and they haven't produced photos to that effect either.

As much as possible is not good enough, your group either damaged the property or you did not. Other options your group had included taking the cushions off the chairs, not allowing the children to have any drinks that you know stain, only drinking sat at a table or using teated bottles/ no leak sports bottles. If you are intimating the parents of the other toddlers did not use sippy cups ask them to cover the damage.

You have only been back a few days, how long do you think it takes to get quotes from specialist cleaners and forward them to you? Bear in mind there might be other holiday bookings, they can't just walk into a let property. Have you asked for photos or quotations?

Hence the cleaning bill added into cost of the rental. And they provided no proof of photos to back this up???

This has already been explained to you: damage is separate to cleaning, stains are akin to you breaking something.

Six hours cleaning will cover the unavoidable basics like the kitchen, bathroom, hoovering, dusting and changing the beds it doesn't cover damage from drink stains and dropped food. They will redo this basic clean unless you have left it spotless because they have standards to maintain, so there was no point in you flinging a hoover around.

As stated at the beginning. It is my opinion that the apartment wasn't left as tidy as I would have liked, due to the fact that we left in the morning and the children were running around while we were doing the lasy minute checks, putting out the final recycling etc.

The apartment was surface clean when I checked it. Every room was tidy, hoovered and wiped down.

In retrospect, I probably should have washed the cushions, but there was no facility to dry them in time for the inspection the next day, and I was afraid of schrinkage/damage etc.

I would have pointed out about the cushions at the proposed handover, but the lady didn't turn up, despite a pre-arranged agreement.

I haven't asked for photos but will do so.

I have said that I will pay for the extra cleaning. It's just the specialist cleaning that I object to, as we didn't damage anything. In fact, when I wiped the couch one evening I noticed it was a different colour, so wasn't very clean before we arrived.

In fact the standard they expected us to leave it Vs how we found it, doesn't match up. None of the bathrooms were spotless.

Why won't you accept stains are classed as damage and leather could reasonably be classed as a material requiring specialist cleaning? This is absolutely standard in letting.

And now you are moving the goalposts claiming the place was not clean when you took it on, completely pointless thread if you are going to come up with a new excuse fourteen posts in. Sounds like what you really want is people to agree with you.

Get real. A few stains on a cushion, that will come out in the wash is hardly damage! That is the only fault I could find when we were leaving the place.

And there was absolutely no damage to the sofa

Stains are classed as damage, that is standard in letting whether you like it or not. Leather may require specialist cleaning, you won't know until you see the quote. If you think you know better don't waste time posting here just take action.

And I am saying that the leather sofa wasn't damaged. It was one of the ones that you can just wipe. I have a semi-aniline leather couch myself, which would need to be treated. That sofa wasn't the same type.

And I don't think I know best. That's why I was looking for advice. On how to approach this is a professional manner, particularly when I feel like there was no damage done in the first place.

I am defo going to ask for photos.
