How usable is the Nexus 7 for note taking?

I'm thinking of getting one, primarily for watching training videos when I'm commuting. But I go to a few conferences and such so might want to use it for making notes instead of using my notebook (as in paper one).

Is the screensize good enough for taking notes?

Cheers

I don't want a 10 incher (oooh-errrr) as its primary function will be holding in one hand on the train (oooh-errrr again) watching videos.

Get a Samsung Galaxy Note. I use one all the time for note taking and it works really well. The pen is brilliant.

easier to kart about and you only need to take it out the bag when you are note taking rather than having the bulk of a notebook all the time when they are watching the training vids on commute?
    was just a suggestion...

A traditional note book, as in one of these:
