in Credit cards
Three months ago I input an incorrect pin at an ATM in Sidari (Corfu) and the transaction was refused, the Corfu bank removed the money from my card anyway. I have still not received a refund dispite numerous calls and I am now told by the Post Office that the ATM machine has proved to be in balance (according to the Corfu bank) and therefore I must of have already had my money!
Has anybody had similar or can help.:(
Thanks

Hello there CRP_54
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. From what you have said it appears that you have raised this issue with the Post Office but remain unhappy with its response.
Generally the ombudsman service is able to look at problems around banking transfers and disputed ATM withdrawals which you can’t sort out with the business, so give us a call on 0300 123 9 123 and we’ll have a look into this for you.
Many thanks

Hi Sam
I have had further correspondence from the PO enclosing an undecipherable computer print from the Corfu bank.
Surprise surprise they tell me I have had the money!
I will be in contact shortly as I am just making a formal complaint to the PO.

So you put in a wrong PIN and it debited your account?
In 20 years of working with ATMs I've never known it happen. I've never known a customer claim it either.
Is there more to this?0 -
Overseas atms take a few days to debit through and this can often throw people out.
If this was the only atm trans you made that day then its pretty clear cut. But if you made others on the same day. It could be that the wrong transaction was disputed. Often a auth of a atm will show a diffrent name to the debit. Which can make picking the correct one even harder. Also timings can be diffrent.
Pretty easy when you don't know the name/location of the atm, times are all over the place. You get the diffrence between local and UK (which can be further confused by GMT/BST).
It could also be that the atm never debited and you did get the cash from the one disputed.
Biggest problem with ATM is that the PO are totally in the hands of the ATM owner over what has happened. All they will get is a copy of the tally roll from the ATM. Which will be what they sent you a copy of.
Only other hope would have been if reported in a few days. Their (PO) systems might have shown a incorrect pin attempt at a atm, but that is something not always checked and is only retained for a couple of weeks.
Like opinions4u. I wonder if there is more to this.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
