Hi, I purchased a Mac and set up two users. I purchased a one license MS Office for it but when it only appears on the main user log in screen and when I switch to the other user screen it is no longer available to me. Do I need to puchase more MS Office licenses or have I installed it wrong? Any advice welcome please...

I am pretty sure that the licence is per machine.0

I'm not sure, but I think this means you can access your programmes from both users.0 -
Did you install Office via the main Admin account? if not, uninstall and reinstall.
You do not need a new licence for each user on the same Mac!No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for this appreciated. I'm hoping this will fix it "This feature may only be set for non-Admin users. If desired, edit a user's account to deselect the "Allow user to administrate this computer" checkbox. You are required to have at least one Admin user at all times, so you could create a user named "Guest" if you want everyone to use the computer via one restricted account. Such a setup might be useful in a lobby or kiosk environment, for example. By leaving the password for the "Guest" account blank, guest users may log in without a password.
2. When restricting user access to applications, note that all applications are selected by default. Click the disclosure triangles next to folder names to individually select or deselect applications. To restrict applications stored outside these folders, such as on a secondary hard disk, click Locate, and make a selection with the navigation dialog. Any other applications you add will appear in the "Other" list."Did you install Office via the main Admin account? if not, uninstall and reinstall.

I did install it on the admin account yes. It's just as soon as we switch to any of the other named accounts the applications are not showing. A couple of others have reported the same thing's happened to them but it doesn't really impact them too much so they've not looked into resolving it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Are you sure it's not installed on both accounts but not showing in the Dock on one? if so, click into the Applications folder and drag the icon to the dock, then try to open from there. No free lunch, and no free laptop

That would be my thoughts too.
My lad needed to borrow my MacBook Pro for a meeting while his laptop was being repaired.
I set him up an account and the MS Office icons did not appear on the dock but they were visible in the Applications directory and worked fine when loaded from there. All I had to do was drag them onto the dock.
My next problem was him not wanting to give it back to me :mad:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I so wished I'd checked back on here and seen this. Have been playing around on it today and have found the above to be true the hard way
. It is now showing fine on all accounts.
Thanks to you all for your advice, really appreciated. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
With office even with a 1 license version, you can have 2 users. Doesn't have to be on the same machine. For example I recently got 2 iMacs, one for my main office and one for my home office. I got the 1 license, 2 user version of office 2011 and installed and activated on both macs without an issue. Incidentally the same applied to adobe cs 6 web and design, it is 1 license but will activate on 2 machine's.0
