Hi
i thought id download something for the kids to watch on dvd from youtube but my dvd player wont play it saying something about video codec not supported and or incorrect disc.
the player supports the following DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW MP3.
i downloaded from you tube via real player but i think i need to either install something further or do something in regards to this codec thing, or is it better to use another program that does it all for you? im using a recordable cd (not dvd)
if i can get it to work via real player that would be preferable as i find real player easy to use, could some one tell me step by step how to fix this issue? spent several hours burning a cd and it doesnt play!
Thanks
Edit- in real player, it asks me to select type of cd, the list has the following - video cd, super video cd, dvd video and avchd dvd video.....i chose the first one video dvd as the rest you have to uograde and pay for it.

To view the vid on your pc use VLC player (free) http://www.downloadster.org/vlc.php?kw=vlc+player&subid=DSTVLUK&cust=vlc+player&type=vlc&gclid=CPbz0dvp4bICFaTHtAodKToA0g&utm_campaign=DSTVLUK
To convert the flash vid to burn to dvd use AVC (free) http://www.any-video-converter.com/download-avc-free.php
Then to burn converted file use ImgBurn (free) http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Too many steps. Just use DVD Flick to convert the Flash file to DVD Video disc.0
-
I use DVD Flick too, but sometimes when converting from Flash the sound is out of synch on the resulting dvd.0
-
I've also used dvd flick many times, but never had any sound synch problems. Maybie it's a small amount of ram issue or cpu performance ?
But every time i'm converting through flick, the video goes out ok

I'm also an advocate of Flick but it's not a perfect bit of kit. I've had issues too.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Before you convert anything to another format.... check what codecs it supports. The list you supplied is the types of discs it can read.
The codec is the type of movie file. Such as WMV, FLV, MP4, AVI etc.
I'm sure if you paste the make and model of your player, a bright spark here will be able to tell you.0 -
I'm not sure why everyone on here makes such basic things so overly complicated.
Just use http://keepvid.com/ and choose to download in a different format ie. Mpeg or mpeg2 or AVI.0
