Visit the forbidden corner

A must for anyone visiting yorkshire this summer. There is a most amazing place in The yorkshire dales called the forbidden corner. Weather your young or old you will enjoy it. We went last year with my mum & dad(late 60's) my brother and his family (baby 6mths) and my 2 children 3 & 6. We had a brilliant day. Just google the Forbidden corner and all the info will come up. I'm sorry but not sure how to post the link.

Here's the link Forbidden Corner. I keep meaning to go, everyone raves about it.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

I understand that tickets for this attraction need to be booked/bought in advance, you can't just turn up on the day and be admitted.

yes that's right. it's an agreement with the village. because they didn't want loads of traffic trawling through their quite village. so by booking first it keeps the number of visiters down at any one time.

There is another way to purchase tickets on the day and that is to visit Leyburn tourist information. They sell a limited number of tickets each day, i'm not sure what time it opens but if you telephone before hand they will let you know how many tickets will be sold and as long as you get there pretty early on you should be ok. I had promised to take the kids for about two years and eventually went. It was fantastic! My kids were 8 and 5 and they loved it - but i saw loads of teenagers and adults having so much fun. If you can I would suggest trying to visit outside of school holidays as its better if its less busy, sometimes having people walk around infront of you spoils some of the suprises along the way, that said though if this is not possible still go for it - because its an excellent day out - don't miss visiting the toilets in the car park on the way in/ way out!!!!

Wholeheartedly agree that this is the best family day out EVER!!!!!! I think it would be great for people without kids too. My kids thought they were in Harry Potter!!! Its truly magical. When you prebook tickets, you dont have to pay for them until you get there.

Somewhere similarish is Hawkstone Park Follies north of Shrewsbury. The BBC's Narnia was filmed there.

Fantastic afternoon out, we went about 2 years ago, OH and myself, teenage daughters, and my husbands Aunt in her 60's.

All generations, and we had a great laugh, fabulous day, really different.

We would really recommend it for anyone over 4 or 5 years old

  • Giving this a bump now the weather is a bit better (fingers crossed) it really is the most fabulous day out - it was April when we went and my 7 year old is still talking about it!
