Hi. My friend (single/no kids) turned 60 on 19th Sept and is about to apply for Working Tax Credits. She normally works 25hrs pw as a Laundry Assistant in a Care Home and has been stuggling for a long time with the heavy work and also paying her bills.
She's been off work for 10 weeks now (on full pay) with a ruptured Achilles Tendon (wears a boot and uses crutches) and will need intensive physio.
Monthly pay £666 + Housing Benefit £237 (no help with C/Tax)
Her Rent is £450pm C/Tax £103pm Bus Fares £34pm
When she eventually does go back to work Ive told her to cut her hours to 16pw as she would be better off (according to Turn2Us Calculator). Her employer is agreeable. Can she do this legally for claiming benefits? Thanks

Sure, why not?
Just triple check you are right before cutting her earned income by a third.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Are you sure about that? Can't see how unless travel costs are a lot lower. What exactly does turn2us say for the two scenarios?0
