memorandum of sale, vendors names

had an offer accepted on a property and received confirmation along with memorandum of sale. The property is vacant and looks like an old person has lived there, so im guessing the owner has deceased and its family selling it.
The agent dealing with the sale also has a solicitors, and the vendors of the property are listed as a lady at one address and one of the solicitors from the agents.
Just interested to know why this would be?

The vendors name appears on the memo, along with the vendors solicitor (they are obviously using the EAs in-house solicitor). The memo shoul also show your name as buyer, along with your solicitors details, an any special conditions of the sale/offer.
Good luck0 -

thanks for reply
the vendors solicitor is EA in house, but this is another name, listed under "vendors solicitor"
there is another solicitor actually listed under "vendors"0 -
Maybe the solicitor has Power of Attorney? The elderly person may not have died, but have gone into residential care perhaps. A member of my family has POA for their parents jointly and severally with the family solicitor......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Estate agents often get the names of both buyers and sellers wrong - so don't worry too much about that - wait until your solicitors get the papers and then you will find out the names of the people really involved.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0
