You have not been there 3 months and you're already arguably the most annoying employee in that place, you are aware they can SACK YOUR BACKSIDE any moment without reason aren't you?
Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.

    Spot on!

If there's a speck of dust in my office on a Monday morning, there are consequences. You're being paid to do a job, management need the company to earn to feed themselves, therefore you should ensure that the job is done properly.

Not spot on! There is no paralle. Cleaning an entire factory full of gym equipment whilst more than 1000 customers each day and each night use it, is not the same as cleaning your office.

The job cannot be done by one person.

That's an allegation I would like you back up with some proof. Of course, I am aware they can SACK MY BACKSIDE.

Look. With all due-respect, the next responses will be to genuine people who want to help me, not troll me with this rubbish.

I would expect her to work unpaid to get the job done. Not enough people with commitment these days. She is lucky to have a job.

    thats the attitude
you forgot to add about the millions of unemployed who would be grateful for their job
we should drop everyone in the UK to minimum wage with hours as required on top.
I mean, they should be grateful to have a job. no?

edit: in either case, though, you'd think OP would run around and make sure the place *looks* clean at least each day, just for an easy life...

It cannot be done even with two people. The gym is a huge factory and there are at least 200 pieces of equipement, including male and female changing rooms, women's area, office, sales area, function area, sports hall and external areas. And then there's the untidy customers who bring in their muddy trainners. I'm quite sure you would need at least three or four people per shift.

That's the wrong attitude. Providing the job can get done in the alotted time, and there is the adequate staff to do it, there is no reason WHATSOEVER that any wage earner should work and not get paid for it.

I expect you are not really this obnoxious in real life. But I have been wrong before.

Guessed you were a he when you told us that you didn't clean the ladies changing rooms. I can only suggest that you stick at it and try to bite your tongue until at least your probationary period is over, being an angry young man (I presume) will only end up with you being out of work with a bad reference. Try your best that's all you can do, good luck.
