How to cancel a transaction?

Options
I sold something about a fortnight ago. Since then, both the buyer and myself have decided not to go ahead with the transaction. The buyer had misunderstood something and I was happy to let it go as the item had not fetched a good price anyway. I would rather keep the item as it is limited edition.

Till now I didn't do anything about it thinking that as there was no listing fee (starting price was 99p), I will not lose anything. But I have just discovered that ebay will still charge me final value fee. How do I cancel the transaction? I don't want the buyer to get into any trouble (he had made a mistake in reading my advert) and I told him that I will not be giving him a negative feedback. How do I end it without lodging a NPB claim?

I'm sure he was very pleased when you told him you would not be leaving him a neg- as you couldn't even if you wanted to. Buyer can however leave you whatever feedback he chooses.

In answer to your question though, do a mutual and if buyer agrees you get your FVFs back

Tell him that you will send a cancellation request and ask if he will accept the cancellation for you to get your fees back.

However as the seller you cant leave neg feedback even if you wanted to.

Thanks Soolin, but how do I do a mutual? sorry to be thick! Actually the buyer has already given me a positive feedback saying that I have been understanding!!! It is funny that I have this star from him and the transaction is not complete and I have this constant reminder that I am waiting to be paid for 1 item. What exactly do I have to do?
