Three UK - The One Plan

Hey guys, I know this has been on this forum before, but I am having a few questions and irritations about this and need help!
I have no phone line or anything in my flat and needed a mobile internet, to use as my main home connection.
I walked into the 3 store last week and was going to buy a Mobile Broadband Dongle for which you buy a £10 top up (for 1GB) or a £15 (or 3GB) or £25 for 7GB for a monthly useage of Broadband. the salesman there said to me that there is a new-ish plan called The One Plan that I can get for £25 a month and is a 30-day rolling-contract, which comes included with a 3000 voice minutes and a few thousand texts. the thing is, i never use a phone anyway so it literally - I was only buying it for the internet use. the salesman explained to me that on this One Plan, the phone can be used to Tether the internet to a laptop. so my laptop is connected to the internet using my phone which is on. Simple.
My main concern is, I have downloaded 35GB of data via youtube/BBC-IPlayer/Facebook/BBC News/Browsing/MyMaths.co.uk/ and my brother uses the PC as well so we have 2 computers going through it. I was told it is Unlimited, which it is. But i was not told about Trafficsense. and is Trafficsense in use still? and what does it mean when they say Speed could be reduced? does the speed get reduced for ALL access. ie i wouldnt even be able to access Facebook? I am predicting that if this does exist, based on my 1 week useage of 35GB i will be capped. but i was not told this until i randomly found it on their website. I do not want to cancel and will accept the "punishment" but - Does the speed restriction ONLY cap certain things? like torrents and file-sharing? or does it stop your internet COMPLETELY down to almost a standstill 75kbps? Sorry for the grammar or lack of it!!! im rushing in panic about this.

Where do they say that? I've read they say the limit is 1000GB per month. but people have still been capped?0

http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=internetapps,varset_subcat=3582,Case=obj%283833%29All-you-can-eat data is part of our Ultimate Internet Plan, The One Plan and our All in One 15 or All in One 25 Add-ons on Pay As You Go. It’s also part of some Talk and Text plans. It gives you all the internet use you need when you're in the UK.
With all-you-can-eat data there are no restrictions or hidden 'fair use' policies on the amount of data you can use. This means you can use your smartphone as you like - so you can download apps, browse the web, look at maps and check your emails as often as you like without worrying about going over a data allowance.
Note:
All-you-can-eat data can't be used abroad, if you use data abroad you'll be charged for it as it isn't included in your allowance. Find out more about data roaming costs.
The One Plan is the only plan that includes tethering. If you’re on another Pay Monthly plan and you want to tether, you’ll need to buy an Add-on. Find out more about tethering here.
Even if you used your phone for every minute of every day you could only possibly use, subject to traffic management requirements and policy, up to 1000GB each month. So in a sense, there is a data limit of up to 1000GB, which is based on what you can physically use.How do I add a signature?0 -
My point is that section in the Note at the bottom of your comment after the bit that says *Even if you were to use it every minute of every day* "subject to traffic management requirements and policy" its that bit about Subject to traffic...is what they never explained to me in person by word-of-mouth when buying the product. and this "Management policy" is called Traffic Sense. and this is why i posted it in this section of the forum because it is by opinion "tech" type info.0

Where else would you get 140GB per month for £25? Perhaps Three should traffic manage you.subject to traffic management requirements and policy
Every internet provider will have a rider that allows them to manage a heavy user to allow other users in your area a decent connection otherwise you could hammer a service and slow others internet experience.
That is direct from Three, as I was told about 2 months ago when they were actively playing about with traffic management. As many people found they dropped the speed to something ridiculous so even browsing was near impossible.
They did switch it off again, but it taught me just who is in charge regardless of my 'rights', and we are more careful about how we use our connection.
Btw, I have a £35 per month All You Can Eat contract and use maybe 20 GB to 25GB per month without issue.
Edit: Just seen Figment's post - that is exactly what they did to me, peak time was silly slow, after midnight and mornings were good speed.0 -

But they say the limit is 1000GB. and they talk happily about how their network is built for the internet and how even if we use it for EVERY MINUTE of EVERY DAY (which i am because it is my home-connection and they knew this) why are we then being penalised? and my question was actually how does the speed reduction effect us? does it stop all browsing completely? does it slow-down EVERY aspect of all browsing and internet useage? or JUST the high-rate download actions such as HD-Video streaming and torrent?
Why say that if there is a secret penalisation about us using more than 30GB a month when they dont even tell us this at point of contract sign by word of mouth in the store? and I have been paying £100 a month for 5*7GB top ups and THEY suggested this instead.0 -
So this explains it. Thank you. ONLY P2P downloading is slowed if you use this excessively during peak time which is clearly labeled as 15:00 - 00:00 on both weekends and weekdays. thank you
therefore it is okay to P2P between 00:00 - 15:00. although, I do not P2P. but Youtube useage has mounted up to bring my total to over 30GB in a week.
I wanted someone with personal experience in the use of this network who has been cut-down with their speed to tell me how it slowed them down.. I do wish the Network 3 salesmen would explain this to us on point of contract sign by word of mouth. it isnt even EXPLAINED clearly in the small print!!! it just say "subject to management of traffic" which basically is covered up by the excitement of news that you can use it every minute of every day. which I pretty much do.0
