Copyright Images

I really don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but of all the other threads, I would think this one falls under the techiesection…

I was thinking of making a little money on the side bycreating and selling CMS templates (Joomla, Wordpress etc..). But have not beenable to find any concrete evidence on if using gaming images or Fan Site imagesin the templates I would be selling is legal under the “Fair Use” agreement.

I’ve seen loads of templates for sale and free on various otherwebsites, and can pretty much guarantee Blizzard/Bioware/EA wouldn’t have giventheir permission to us the images in the template.

Below is a Fan Site Kit Agreement for Star Wars TOR:

(I used to be able to post links... now that option has gone :/ )

http://www.!!!!!!!!!!!/doc/89260214/TOR-Fan-Site-Kit-Agreement

scribd (dot) com / doc / 89260214 / TOR-Fan-Site-Kit-Agreement

If I posted that on my website, so people had to agree tothose terms and conditions before they could buy it, would that be ok?

Or should I just make them anyways and hope/pray that I don’tget a cease and desist letter from said companies (though I guess since I canstill find those templates easily on other sites, it would be quite rare to getone)?

Thanks

Robbie

as soon as you start making money from free stuff, it's usually against the free/fair use policies, tbh I think you should be giving a % back to people who's work you are profiting from anyway!

Respect the artists - there is no 'fair use' under British copyright law (there is a 'fair dealing' which is similar, but more restrictive), and even then, using logos from any third-party company for something that makes you money would not fall under either.
