Carers & DLA when moving to Europe

Hi all,

Long story short, I'm thinking of moving to Germany or Austria soon. Girlfriend (who may become wife!) has an autistic daughter who gets DLA and has been awarded it for life (let's see about that!). My girlfriend gets carers allowance. Now if we were to move to Germany/Austria... would her daughter still get her DLA (in £GBP?) or would she have to apply over there? Same thing for the carers allowance.

While I'm here... what else can be transferred? NI contributions? Pension contributions?

I found this thread which I'm about to read:

All help GREATLY appreciated... seriously, thank you..!

My understanding is (where the move is permanent) that you can continue to claim DLA care but not mobility component & Carer's Allowance will stop. I would seek advice on this though as I believe there are different rules for people that live here & work abroad or vice versa. :)

Thanks, I did see that! I don't think we are in receipt of a 'relative benefit' as per article and I don't know what a contribution based sickness benefit is.. it's all pretty wordy and vague. She's been awarded lifelong DLA but will that really carry over?

I sent an e-mail to the DWP regarding this however I got a reply saying they're still replying to e-mails sent since July!!!!!!!!!

Will the daughter cope with such a move?

Is she no longer in education?

As I understand it, the daughter will once she is 16, or in a couple of years, if of age now, be reassessed for PIP.
This has as part of its criteria a habitual and present residence test.
If she is living overseas permenantly, she cannot pass this, and will get no PIP.
    She cannot keep claiming DLA.

Apologies, she's 18!! I was always terrible with ages, and I always will be...

She's currently doing a year in college - basic life skills. She'd be able to cope with it - people still speak English in Munich and the like..
