Furniture spray paint?

About 10 years ago i remember my auntie buying this can of spray paint type stuff that she used on her fire surround, it was like a textured b;ack crackle effect and it really livened (sp?) it up, I remember her then telling me you can get all sorts of colours and textures, does anyone know if they still exist? Id love to brightnen up some old furniture, been thinking pink wardrobes for the girls, maybe even do my kitchen cupboards! Ive tried googling but as i cant even remember its correct name/brand im not coming up with much.

I've painted my kitchen doors too. Used Easy Surface Preparation, 2 coats of emulsion and then varnish. They've been like this for at least 8 years and it's the second time I've painted them using this process.

I've also painted melamine furniture. Not used Plastikote though so can't comment on how easy it is.
