packing question

i am returning a laptop to someone. the original box came wrapped in just a pvc bag, so you couldn't see what's inside. however, i am thinking of returning the item in its box. the box is sturdy, however, anyone with the courier company can see what is being transported.

wondering - is this okay and standard practise, or do ppl think it is unsafe

Do you mean the laptop box has branding on it? e.g. Toshiba Laptop..... etc?

TBH it could be anything, people re-use boxes all the time. I've sold routers and switches in Base Unit boxes, I've sent other items (cheaper) cuddle toys in laptop boxes. It shouldn't make any difference of course with a laptop you would be well advised to take out the correct insurance.

My Wii arrived in a dish rack box, conversely as Del Astra I've sent things of littel value in mobile phone boxes just beacuse they were the right size

What condition is the box in? If it's 'as new', I d be unhappy for it to be returned with address lables and parcel tape stuck over it.

Can you not wrap it in brown paper, or get a suiatble 'outer' box from the supermarket?

thankyou. i was wondering in terms of security, as it looks and feel as if there is a laptop inside.

my local post office sells those pvc bags that you can wrap a box around for about 3 pounds, which is a bit too much if you ask me. i imagine it may have cost much less to make/purchase
  • Why don't you just cut up a bin liner and wrap it in that? I've done that before now to disguise a label on a box.
